Optimal Design of Modular Electrical Infrastructure for Large-Scale Electric Bus Depots

Owing to the immense climate changes in recent years, city of Hamburg has decided allow purchase only emission-free buses for public transportation. Meanwhile, focuses on implementation electric buses. For this purpose, two transportation companies which are Hamburger Hochbahn AG (HOCHBAHN), and Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein GmbH (VHH) build new charging infrastructure bus depots. In addition, they started by electrifying their existing stations. This study proposes an optimal method depots modularizing subsystems electrical power systems. An approach that allows different configurations system components. Analyzing these results conclusion most technically feasible configuration achieving lowest cost. Furthermore, model objectives include reducing required area, is a challenging criterion many cities. Mixed-Integer Quadratic Programming (MIQP) used generate combination based predefined constraints must satisfy all implemented system.
